By setting up basic parental controls you can restrict websites, movies, music and more.

First, you need to go to ‘General’ in the ‘Settings’ menu. The screen will expand and you will be able to select the ‘Restrictions’ menu for all the parental controls.

These allow you to restrict your child’s use of their iPad by limiting which websites they can view on the Safari internet browser. Not only can the parental controls limit internet access, they can also stop your child downloading age-restricted movies and music without parental consent. This works by setting up a four-digit passcode – just make sure you choose a code that your child won’t guess but is still easy for you to remember. When typing in your chosen passcode, you will be asked to enter it twice. This is to make sure you haven’t accidentally tapped in a different digit than intended. Once set up, you can use this passcode to change the restriction settings at anytime for the internet and apps used on that iPad.

Finally, you may decide to disable the location feature on the iPad, to prevent your child’s location being published in apps like Facebook. This can be found in the ‘Privacy’ section of ‘Settings’.
