A relatively new phenomenon in the social media world, Snapchat is a way of sharing photos, videos and comments to a select group of contacts.

You can only view a photo or video for up to ten seconds before it disappears, which makes the ephemeral messaging aspect of this app appealing to its users (commonly teenagers).

Snapchat is free to download, has no additional extras, and does not have paid advertising, therefore entices people in with its no-nonsense approach to sharing photos.

It is fast becoming a valuable way of communicating among the younger generation of smartphone users.
