World of Words: It’s the poem of the week

YOU can send in a poem on any topic to [email protected] and you could be in with the chance of winning a cheque for £10. This weeks’ winner is Katie Newland, with her poem, Truth or Fate.

Are our lives mapped out for us

or are they down to choice?

Are we forced to take some paths

or listen to our own voice?

Are our lives mapped out for us

or are they down to choice?

Are we forced to take some paths

or listen to our own voice?

Are some things just meant to be

or is it down to you?

Does fate really exist in life

or is it a point of view?

It is true that some things happen

no matter what you do?

Which ever path you take in life

will they still always happen to you?

I believe we should always take

what’s handed on a plate

because if you don’t, that choice

you made, you will one day hate

A life should be filled with memories

and never with regret,

because the choices you made

can’t be changed, so you shouldn’t be upset

Which ever path you choose to take

will give your life a story,

It’s down to you to make it work

and turn it into glory

Life is a one-time only chance

so grab things with both hands

take advantage of all that’s offered

because things can’t always be planned

Your life is what YOU make it

so it’s really down to you,

so just keep working hard at it and

focus on what’s ahead of you
