World of Words: This week’s literary diary

What’s going on in the Worthing literary world this week.

Friday, January 24: 3 Ladies at Lunchtime, The Ardington Hotel, Worthing, midday.

The Wordies group formed at the request of the owners of The Ardington Hotel, Worthing. They perform regularly at the award-winning Indigo restaurant a one-hour pre-dinner programme, which includes poems, readings, play extracts and humorous items, usually to a theme. Sometimes, they include poems by Russ, Audrey and Wendy Greene, but mostly items are by others, ranging from Pam Ayres and Roald Dahl to John Betjeman and Shakespeare. This time, it will be the group’s ladies who perform. The ladies from the Wordies occasionally perform as 3 Ladies at Lunchtime (with the fourth lady compèring).
