Complain direct to end road misery

IT SEEMS to me that Worthing has been blighted by West Sussex highways department over the last months and years.

If they are not introducing ridiculous lane restrictions on the A259 at Brooklands, building narrow chicanes at pedestrian crossings near the Aquarena or interfering with seating outside cafs, they are again causing unnecessary diversions at Steyne Gardens.

Why they placed extra barriers physically blocking right turns is a mystery.

In the morning, many vehicles made the right turn at the top of Steyne Gardens perfectly safely.

Then by the evening, the extra barriers were installed, forcing vehicles to divert north through more roadworks, only to negotiate the roundabout to return to the seafront to finally continue their journeys '“ a totally unnecessary diversion to cause maximum inconvenience and congestion.

Whilst we all will admit that roadworks/repairs are a necessary evil to be tolerated, consideration must be given to the road users to minimise the disruption.

So, don't just moan to your work colleagues, friends and family, send your complaints to [email protected]

Unless the residents of Worthing give feedback, we'll be at risk of further ill-conceived and ill-managed road projects inflicted by a department which obviously don't know or live in Worthing.
