Has Worthing Council really considered its bread and butter hirers and thought out the changes it is making to Field Place?

Like other hirers, we have also been told we are losing our storage cupboard, which includes a small reference library used regularly by our members.

Tea and coffee has been freely provided by us to our members, using our own crockery and washing it up afterwards, so we were shocked to turn-up to a meeting a few weeks ago to find that the kitchen area had been turned into a bar and the sink replaced by two small stainless steel bowls.

No notice was given and we have been told that we will be unable to self-cater at all from April 1.

With the notice of a significant rise in rent also, we wonder if regular hirers are being given none-too subtle signals that they are not wanted.

As it appears many charitable groups will probably be leaving (Herald letters January 15 and 22), and with the economic climate as it is, will there be enough weddings and conferences to cover the loss of these rents?
