Hot coals in the woods

MY son, who is seven, burnt his feet badly whilst playing in the wooded area along Goring foreshore, between the two greens, last Sunday.

The senseless reason for the burns was that a thoughtless person tipped their lit barbecue charcoal remains in the wood.

I find this totally irresponsible.

My son is badly burnt and was very, very frightened.

We will be nursing his wounds for weeks to come.

Please, please look out for this hazard along with everything else, so this does not happen to your child or pet.

The council have been very sympathetic and are very aware of the problems relating to barbecues on the beach and are taking appropriate measures to make their use a much safer issue.

Lastly, if it was you who tipped these hot coals in the wood, please do not do it again.

My son is suffering terribly.
