Keep the road free flowing

Bob Luckhurst lambasts as dangerous, drivers who "speed up the left hand lane" at the Manor roundabout in order to turn right along the A27 towards Brighton (Herald letters, March 12)

What he fails to appreciate is the combined surge of both his and the "undertaking" cars effectively stops traffic entering from his left, leaving both lanes of the eastbound dual carriageway emptying fast, and allowing him to speed along the outer lane, while "undertakers" happily occupy the nearside one.

Thus anyone in Grinstead Lane approaching the roundabout "correctly", reaches it quicker '“ thanks to some drivers ahead of them changing to the nearside lane.

In this manner perhaps six or seven cars are enabled to join the A27 at a time, instead of just two or three if Bob had his, some might say, selfish way.
