LETTER: Smoking: every effort made

Further to the item on smoking outside Worthing Hospital (January 19), every effort has been made to stop smoking on the site with plenty of signs but many people ignore them as being a patient or visiting a very sick friend or relative can be extremely stressful which leads to those who still smoke needing the relief it momentarily brings.

My husband has been a volunteer now for several years and spends considerable time in and out of the hospital every week and never comes home smelling of smoke! The ban on smoking on the whole site has been very effective so much so it is rare to see patients/visitors smoking at or around the many different entrances/exits.
