A job well done

THREE resounding cheers and an extra '˜hurray' for John Betts and his letter in last week's Observer. At last someone has said what I believe a great deal of us think. There is far too much focus on negativity in Bexhill, especially about the beautiful way the West Prom has been developed. Okay, maybe the shelters need some attention, but wow, the flower beds are filling in magnificently and they are a joy to see, with pastel colours like a Monet palette. Children are having great fun playing on the equipment and the benches are comfortable for sitting upon. Well done Bexhill and Rother District Council for this innovative project; as soon as we win the South East in Bloom competition, our town will have an accolade it truly deserves. Regarding the shelters; okay, I do agree they are a little incongruous but there's a simple solution. How about painting each one a different pastel colour to blend into the overall colour scheme and perhaps simply install a see-through perspex/glass panel to the front elevation to reduce wind ingress?

I now look forward to seeing the completion of the central development and the introduction of a quality restaurant, perhaps along the lines of Mediterranean/bistro style with outside tables to complement the corniche. My thanks go unreservedly to Rother District Council and the design team that took the initiative to give us something new and different. Job well done.
