How come it’s acceptable to take an hour to travel five minutes through London but it’s essential to spend half-a-billion pounds on a dual carriageway that at busy times may reduce at most a few minutes on the A27 at Arundel?

If built, the grey route proposed by Highways England will cause immense damage, blowing climate change and carbon reduction figures sky high, destroy over 100 homes and businesses, render unviable valuable farmland and sever wildlife from the South Downs National Park in Binsted Woods from its foraging areas along the marshlands of the Binsted Rife increasing noise, vibration, light and chemical pollution levels in the process as it carves up our precious and rare chalk stream environment.

Those that wish to do this need to read David Attenborough’s book A Life On Our Planet and think again, please.

Post-Brexit and Covid we need to spend any money we might have in a much more sensitive way, putting our environment for all species in the forefront of our decision making.

What our world needs at this very critical time is people of vision, practicality, adaptability, compassion and intuition if we are to get this beautiful planet out of the mess we have created.

We need people at a local level to ensure the whole environment is considered and all, not just a few human stakeholders, benefiting.
