Campaign to help new mums

NCT has launched a campaign called BeyondBabyBlues to try to help new mothers in your area who may be suffering in silence with a mental health problem.

Our research has found that half of new mothers are concerned about their mental health and over a third of callers to our helpline with a mental health difficulty had not spoken to a healthcare professional about it.

The #BeyondBabyBlues campaign aims to encourage people to talk more openly about maternal mental health, to avoid the mistake of dismissing potentially serious issues in themselves, friends or family and to seek help.

As part of the campaign, we are also calling for better perinatal mental health support services in your
local area. We are asking people to submit our template letter to their MP asking them to back the campaign via our quick and easy web link: https://act.nct.org.uk/beyond_baby_blues/ and to show their support for the campaign on social media under the hashtag #Beyond BabyBlues.

More information about the campaign, backed by celebrities, including where to turn for help can be found at www.nct.org.uk/bbb.

NCT has a free helpline (0300 330 0700) for anyone who’d like to discuss any issue around pregnancy, childbirth or being a new parent and our local branches may be able to help with peer-to-peer support too.
