Emergency crews reacted superbly

I WOULD like to refer to the photograph in the recent issue of your paper, showing me being lifted by the fire service from my top-floor flat to the awaiting ambulance for an emergency admission to hospital.

This unusual mode of transport was due to the malfunction of the lift at Normandy Court and, in connection with this, I must express my sincere thanks to the crews of both the ambulance and fire services.

Unless you experience an occasion like this, you cannot appreciate the kindness and dedication of these people – they are first-class and could not do enough for my wife and myself.

I am pleased to say I am now safely home.

I would also like to offer my sincere apologies to the ambulance crew for the manner in which they were spoken to over the lift problems by a resident.
