EU has only itself to blame

The most depressing outcome of the EU Referendum is surely that it puts one half of the country at loggerheads with the other?

And as for reports of efforts in high places to subvert the democratically arrived at referendum majority vote, this is a new low in British politics and is symptomatic of the congenital inability of the Establishment, chattering classes to admit they got it wrong.

This is all so unnecessary because both ‘Remainers’ and ‘Leavers’ voted as they did for similar reasons – a far more secure future for our children and grandchildren.

So instead of blaming one another we should instead put the blame firmly where it belongs

If Brussels had allowed David Cameron to implement a temporary reduction in UK immigration numbers, this single concession would almost certainly have produced a different referendum result.

By refusing any such thing, the same EU elite who already make 60 per cent of our laws – with aspirations of making it 100 per cent – thereby committed a political miscalculation of Olympic proportions by losing Britain – the second largest economy in the EU, the only EU country with a unique political relationship with the US – something denied even to Germany, the EU powerhouse.

Although it was Britain who pioneered radar, computers, television and satellite technology, and gave the world the jet engine, the EU has consistently seen fit to accord Britain the same political relevance as Latvia or Lithuania.

The resentment of the Remainers really should be redirected to those who caused the problem – the knuckleheads in Europe.
