Hats off, petrol station

MAY I, through your pages, say 'hats off' to the team who are refurbishing Bexhill's Glyne Gap Esso fuel station. In just a couple of weeks they have demolished and removed the old steelwork, canopy and pumps and rebuilt the site with absolutely no mess or disruption to traffic.

Contrast this with any comparable work funded by the taxpayer - for example, the footbridge work on Harley Shute Road. This has been causing traffic delays for months now but there would appear to be no sense of urgency to get it finished.

Likewise the west seafront, typical of a job where there is no-one actually accountable.

If the job is over budget or over time or it causes weeks of inconvenience to the public.

Who cares, no-one will lose their job.
