International School Award success for primary school

Kingslea Primary School in Horsham has been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.

The International School Award is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need to live and work as global citizens.

Kingslea Primary School’s international work includes the teaching and learning of a vast range of cultures and an ongoing celebration of languages spoken. Children experience learning through a cross-curricular approach. Kingslea has links with schools in the local area and has even partnered with schools in a diverse range of countries including: Africa, Germany and the United States.

On hearing the news that Kingslea had received the Award, Nigel Goodall (Headteacher) said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement for everyone connected to Kingslea. Very few schools achieve this standard across the country and we should all feel very proud. The children have enjoyed a range of experiences relating to the rich cultures from around the globe’
