Let's not talk of death

I was horrified to see the headlines in the paper (letters, May 19) that Mandy has once again got into the paper about '˜Dying Matters Awareness Week'.

No-one likes this subject. A lot of people have health problems taking several tablets and living on oxygen as my partner has to do.

The last thing he wants to do is talk about death. As you say, we all celebrate birthdays etc so let’s do that, not include talking about life along side death.

I don’t think you can expect the Health Secretary to listen as you would not lose control of your death in hospital, as the nursing staff are very caring, as we experienced when my partner was in for three weeks recently and recovered to come home.
