LETTER: Polling cards

I am not a member of any political party, just interested in what goes on in Lancing.

On Thursday, August 6, there was an election to fill a parish councillor vacancy for Churchill Ward.

Apparently no polling cards were delivered to the residents, in order to save £1,600 of election expense.

There are two polling stations – how did residents know where they were, and indeed, which one to go to, to vote?

I know that not many people bother to vote, but surely failing to provide information for the electorate can’t be acceptable democratic practice?

It all makes me feel a bit uneasy, really.
