LETTER: Public must attend meeting

I am wondering whether the housing plan for Horsham, being doggedly pursued by councillors Dawe, Vickers, Croft and Rae, is being made up on the hoof or whether they have been withholding information from the public and only releasing it to us as and when it suits them.

There was no mention of the need for another 1,000 houses at the council meeting on 11 December 2013 and just one month later councillor Vickers now says we need more houses because of updated census information. An increase of nine per cent.

It seems incredible that after Christmas updated census information came to light at Horsham District Council which has been accurately analysed to conclude that precisely 1,000 more houses are now needed.

Did councillors Dawe, Vickers, Croft, and Rae know that the housing figure was too low at the time of the public consultation, which took place over the school summer holidays in 2013, but said nothing to make it a less bitter pill for the public to have to swallow?

The public must come to councillor Vickers’ public meeting at 6.00pm on Thursday 13th February at the Council Offices (Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL) and seek clarification from her, and councillors Dawe, Croft and Rae.
