LETTER: Remembrance duty and honour
The Rev John Gay’s letter about my father Fred Woods playing the last post at Slinfold Church for many years was lovely, and much appreciated by our family. Dad played there every Remembrance Day for over 40 years, come rain or snow, and he considered it a duty and an honour.
However I did want to correct one small point: our family is certain that he did actually play last November 2013, as he had done every year. It would have taken a lot for him not to have done so, and he played music up until only a few days before his death.
