We lived next door to Peggy Bailey (later McCulloch) and her family.

They lived at ‘Lyn Rydge’and we lived at number 26 Riverside Road, opposite Tudor Mansions.

I remember well the Silver Sands and Sussex Yacht Works and the fun we had before Bungalow Town was built up.

We had a redundant railway carriage in our back garden – our play den. In the winter it was an upmarket apartment for our rabbit.

We had the remains of the old tennis club and court outside our back gate.

So sad that Melbourne is now neglected.

Peggy Bailey/McCulloch will be 90 years old on February 27 – a wonderful lady, a lovely family.
