Need for variety of shops in Rustington village

I have lived in Rustington since 1976.

Rustington has always been an attractive shopping venue with residents and visitors alike looking forward to a browse.

It seems to me the character of the village is changing with the advent of new outlets with similar wares with just the odd welcome exception.

Just recently, for example, the only shoe shop, which was in existance when I came to the area, has now closed.

Similarly, a long standing independent jeweller has gone. In this case another jeweller had moved in next door.

I do not know the background history to these changes, but surely someone must be able to restore some balance as to what is on offer or is it really just down to profit for the landlord?

I love Rustington and do not want it to become one of a number instead of an interesting shopping destination for everyone.

I wonder if anyone else agrees?
