Now just a memory

I WOULD like to point out to John Betts, with reference to his letter complaining about the negative letters about the Next Wave development on the seafront, it is unlikely anyone outside of Bexhill will see the letters in the first place and be put off visiting.

I look forward to change, for the better, can any say the shelters are an improvement? They only have seating room for about eight, a third of it is open to the sky. What’s the point of having a roof with an enormous hole in it, and in the rear wall? The old shelters on the eastern end hold 25-30 people comfortably and are very pleasing to look at too.

The money would have been well spent renovating the old shelters, and huge amounts of money saved by leaving the Edwardian seafront alone.

It was charming to look at and enjoy for visitors and locals. It has done so for the past 100 years, but is now just a memory wiped of the face of the earth.
