Red herring

IN the current matter of supermarkets and sewage disposal, I decided to investigate the Ferring Rife to ascertain the nature of the problem.

Little was of informative value apart from a sighting, in the Rife, of a fine specimen of an unusual species clupea carminatus tacticus, better known as a red herring. This fish is very wily and can be difficult to spot. It has the ability to lead people on the wrong side of the stream, whilst bigger fish close by avoid being netted – in this case, a whale of an unnecessary supermarket.

Maybe this nature note will be of interest to your readers hoping to avoid our neighbourhood being spoiled by overdevelopment.
