Shock at East Preston GP surgery closure

The East Preston branch has already been closed with no notification of this sent out to patients before it happened and, although your article reports that letters will be sent to all patients, I feel it was bad practice to put this in the Gazette before patients had been notified of the closure.

I can understand it’s an interesting news story as far as the paper is concerned, but many older patients will have been as shocked as me and worrying now about what will happen.

This is also going to put extra strain on an already stretched practice as I am sure they will receive many calls.

It is a great shame that the Arun medical group is closing. We have always received professional care and we know they have been struggling for a while.

Whether it would have made any difference if the issues surrounding the centre next to Morrisons had been resolved we will never know, but 7,500 patients, many of them elderly, are now in limbo over what is going to happen in October.
