Something needs to be done about on-street parking in East Preston

All the residents know that on-street parking restricts vehicle movement along the whole length of Roundstone Drive, East Preston.

It has been like that for years. From a road safety point of view, it does slow the traffic down as there are some pinch points due to large vehicles parking on both sides of the road. However, because of this, emergency vehicles are unable to get through.

I personally think the council should remove the grass verge and install parking lay-bys on both sides of the road. This will tidy up the look of Roundstone Drive as the rutting of the grass verge doesn’t look very nice in the winter.

The council should address the use of large delivery vehicles using Roundstone Drive by imposing width restrictions, but I can’t see lorries adhering to it.

However I have since heard from my cousin who is an HGV driver and he read my comment on Facebook and disagreed with my comment stating, “Any professional driver would adhere to official restriction’s or they would get points or fines. Maybe a 3.5t weight limit as well might help”.

Something needs to be done.
