Tories in disarray

Three weeks ago at Arun Council following the revelation that three senior Tory councillors had been sacked from the Cabinet, my suggestion that there were deep divisions and disharmony within the ruling Conservative group was refuted by another Tory councillor.

Now that we have had the astonishing charge of vindictiveness from one sacked Tory (Paul Dendle) directed to the Leader Gill Brown, followed last week by the accusation from another sacked member (Terry Chapman) that Gill Brown had “deliberately attempted to mislead by spinning an untrue narrative”.

For these comments to be made in public really do indicate a deep malaise and disharmony within the majority Tory group, and a worrying “control freak tendency”. Your readers can be sure that if this is said in public, then the private conversations and e-mails would reveal much more!

Clearly any dissent within the Conservative group is punishable by being cast into outer darkness, and it again seems that the Leader merely wants to surround herself with tame puppets or perhaps “Mrs Brown’s Boys”.
