Looking forward to the bank holiday

We've booked the funfair, ordered the sunshine and reserved the promenade and Steyne Gardens Worthing for this year's carnival weekend on Sunday, August 26 and Bank Holiday Monday, August 27.

Celebrating 97 years strong and with more than 25 floats along the seafront and more than 50 stalls on the promenade and in Steyne Gardens, the town’s Rotary Clubs will be there to celebrate the Worthing Carnival.

The carnival has a great track record since 1921, making it one of the oldest carnivals in the UK.

There will be lots to see and do – our fun fairs, circus, dog show, barrel organ, bands, lots of music and magic, craft and other stalls, a great choice in hot and cold food. Come along and see what’s going on to enjoy on both days.

––– Also in the news, GCSE students across the area have been celebrating after receiving their results; an Angmering grandfather has taken to caring for hedgehogs to help him overcome a spinal injury; and a memorial to honour the victims of the Shoreham Airshow crash is almost ready for installation on the banks of the River Adur –––

The procession along the seafront is on the Monday. The band, lots of floats and supporters will leave Grand Avenue at 12.30pm, travels along the seafront and arrives at Steyne Gardens at 1.30pm. Lots to see and enjoy.

Every year the Rotary Clubs are able to raise money to support local charities, groups and others. Some of these groups will be with us in the parade and at The Steyne. Come along and see them and meet us.

Of course, you will also see our Rotary team of collectors trying to encourage your donations. This year we will also be collecting for the partner Rotary Clubs in India and Italy supporting those flood victims in India and the tragedy in Genoa.

We also want to give a big thank you to our local businesses who supported the carnival this year with sponsorship and their banners.

If you would like to volunteer to help at the carnival, please contact us on one of the numbers below. If you have an idea, event or project to take forward and we might help, please let us know.

Have a happy bank holiday weekend and carnival.
