More sermon than debate

I ATTENDED the Shoreham hustings on Monday, April 26.

An interesting mix of ages and views from the platform. I am not a undecided voter and having lived through more elections and party promises than I care to remember. I shall not change my mind after last Monday's presentations.

The structure of the meeting needed addressing. A audience that sits and listens to six speakers give forth on eight questions for two hours in my view is too long.

A talk to the speakers at the end was inadequate.

A gentleman protested and walked out after being rebuked by the chair.

Question time has a better format and at least questions from the members of the audience are addressed to stimulate participation.

This had a whiff of sermon rather that debate in it.

On the good side, a large audience took part and that shows, in spite of the appalling record of Parliament in recent times, our people are still interested in their fate.
