PAUL O’BRIEN: Warm welcome to new businesses opening in sunny Worthing

We welcome five fabulous new businesses to the town centre this week, all of which will add more vibrancy to both our retail, food and pub offerings.

First to open, after a major refit, was the Egremont pub on Brighton Road, which brings a fine old English ale house back to its former glory.

This was a pub that had been dying a slow death until taken over and revamped, and will be a fantastic addition to the drinking out offer for Worthing.

Following closely behind, in opening terms, we have the Crab Shack, down on East Beach quarter, which serves hearty fresh fish dishes.

Judging by the pictures being posted of food being served, there will be a long, salivating, queue out the door.

I’m sure many Worthingites will be down for a fresh crab sandwich very soon!

Next up we have three businesses that are soon to be completed.

We have the intriguingly named Chic Creek, which is soon to open its doors in the old ‘nickels and dimes’ building on our sunny promenade.

Judging by the signage this will be a business selling refurbished and up cycled furniture and will certainly add a new dimension for shopping in the town.

Then we have an, as yet, unnamed tapas bar opening just a few doors along on the prom.

Who can think of anything better than sitting out on the decking on a balmy night enjoying several tapas plates and a sangria whilst taking in the sea air?

Last, but by no means least, we have a new bar and restaurant called the Sea House opening on the roof terrace of the former Occasions nightclub.

Having spent a few evenings myself with a beverage on the terrace over the summer, it’s a wonderful area and will give anyone who visits a panoramic view over the seafront from four storeys up.

Again this will be a welcome addition to our now blooming night time offering of pubs and late bars.

On top of this we can soon welcome the Libertine in Portland Road, another public house brought to you from the owners of the Wandering Goose.

If the success of the Goose is anything to go by, this will be packed out every single night.

I’m sure I talk for everyone in wishing these new ventures well and let’s all make a point of visiting to see what exciting new offers they bring to sunny Worthing.
