Proper pathway needed for cyclists

I REGULARLY cycle from East Preston to Shoreham and then on to Brighton and am delighted that I can now use the Worthing promenade.

What concerns me, however, is the lack of a designated cycle path.

Why one was not painted in when the no cycling signs were painted out, I do not know.

One does assume that the so-called year experiment will not start until there is a pathway because how on earth do the council hope for a good safety record when I, a careful 70-year-old, have to weave, albeit slowly, in and out of pedestrians along the promenade until I reach the start of the designated path on the east of Worthing pier and even then, I have to watch out for people walking on the cycle path?

The Brighton seafront is far busier than the Worthing seafront and the designated cycle path has been there for years.
