Reason for the empty car park

WHAT a joy it is to park in Worthing.

Just after 12pm on Wednesday, April 21, I took my car into the open-air car park in the High Street.

I put in my 3.20 for two hours and the ticket that came out was for one hour, to 13.09, but the price on the ticket was 3.

The sun was making it difficult to see the screen and 20p had been rejected.

It then cost me a further 3.20 for another ticket.

When I got home, at around 4.30 pm, I rang NCP.

I explained what had happened but I was told that nothing could be done and there were no repayments.

I was then told that if I had telephoned straight away, then they may have been able to do something.

I wasn't at all happy and when I asked why the machine wouldn't register that the amount was wrong and return the money, I was informed that this is not how the machine works.

I know now why, on a bright, sunny, busy market day, there was only a handful of cars in the car park.

A woman who saw what happened said it was typical of Worthing, with nobody there to help you.

Rustington and Littlehampton, here I come.
