Road safety suggestions welcomed

I HOPE that since your article (Herald, April 8) about Shaun Digweed's accident outside Worthing High School that someone has come forward to be the crossing patrol person for this important location.

Read the story about Shaun's plea for a crossing patrol, here.

As a regular user of St Lawrence Avenue, I know how dangerous this part of the road can be, especially when there are lots of parents in parked cars waiting to collect children from school.

Readers may be interested to know that Worthing Borough Council at its last meeting received an excellent presentation from the Worthing Cycle Forum on the need for 20mph speed limits in locations like this and an approach will be made to West Sussex County Council in the near future for them to consider more 20mph zones in Worthing.

Personally, I am happy to support any other suggestions from residents for road safety improvements in this area. I can be contacted on 07761 848820.

John Rogers

deputy leader

Worthing Borough Council
