This week, Kim Woodley, from the Rotary Club of Worthing, gives an update on the latest and future goings-on.
Are you enthusiastic, energetic and excited about making our community a great place? If so, Worthing Rotary Club needs YOU!
Our members all share one vision: to make Worthing an exciting, caring place to live.
A place where amazing events for all ages take place, where people are willing to get involved in making these events the very best they can be and to show compassion for those in our community who are not as fortunate as others.
Our members are willing to get involved, to help and support individuals and groups as well as organising our fabulous August bank holiday parade and fair, concerts, barn dances, car boot sales, talks and many more varied activities.
Rotary International is the world’s oldest service club organisation and is made up of some 31,000 clubs in more than 166 countries around the world.
Our members form a global network of business and professional leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their local community and the world.
Rotary’s motto ‘Service above Self’ exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organisation’s more than 1.2 million members.
Strong fellowship among Rotarians and meaningful community and international service projects characterise Rotary worldwide.
Rotary enjoys a rich tradition and organisational structure with many different programmes of local community and international service and most of these are carried out at club level.
Rotary started in Worthing in 1922 with the formation of the Rotary Club of Worthing on March 1 of that year and by March 5 the new club had agreed and published plans to support Worthing Hospital financially.
A great deal of work has been done in the community over the years and this still continues.
Today our club supports and assists many organisations in the town as well as overseas projects, these often in collaboration with other Rotary clubs in the areas concerned, ensuring aid and help gets directly to the place it’s needed with local distribution.
To join Rotarians in ‘making a difference’ to the lives of others, both locally and internationally, have a look at our website: www.worthing-rotary.org, call us or come along to one of our Monday lunchtime meetings. We would love to welcome you.
