Spectacular display

I MUST write to say how much my wife and I enjoyed our day at the Open Houses and Open Arts in Worthing last weekend.

Although we managed to see only seven locations (out of 44), we were treated to a spectacular display of variety in art.

An extremely high standard of work was on offer in photography, design, paintings, ceramics, pewter, jewellery and much, much more.

Warm welcomes were evident in all locations, with refreshments available at many houses.

It also gave us an opportunity to see much of Worthing's diverse architecture from colourful seaside town exteriors to delightfully furnished interiors treated with artistic panache.

A tropical garden was a great surprise on our tour, a colour brochure with map helped us on our way and our only regret was not allowing time to visit more homes.

Worthing should be proud of this ambitious venture '“ a great deal of effort has been rewarded with a large turnout of art lovers basking in local bonhomie.

The residents of Open Homes/Art made our trip from suburbia so worthwhile.
