With temperatures soaring last week it was really nice to see some of our Day Hospice patients outside in the courtyard potting plants and enjoying the sunny weather.
Part of the care we provide at St Barnabas House is about providing the opportunity for people to live well for as long as possible, so our Day Hospice team often put on these sort of activities for them.
We also held some fantastic thank you events for our brilliant volunteers last Monday at our children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House.
The events were to recognise the contribution made by those who give their time across both hospices with the first event thanking hospice and fundraising volunteers, while the second was for retail volunteers.
We held them in a marquee out in the gardens and the weather allowed plenty of mingling outside before and after.
We also handed out a number of long service badges, which is always a pleasure to do.
Last week we were shortlisted as one of the three charities that will go to the public vote to become local charity of the year for 2017/18 at Sainsbury’s Lyons Farm and Sainsbury’s Local in Goring Road.
You can either vote in-store using a token every time you shop, or vote for us online by going to www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk and searching for ‘Worthing’.
Voting closes on Sunday, June 25, and every vote counts!
Finally I would like to wish the best of luck to everyone taking part in our Night to Remember midnight walk on Saturday night.
I’ll be there meeting the walkers before they set off and I know it’ll be a fantastic night.
