Standing ovation indicates opinion

WHATEVER your politics, one thing is certain, Worthing's councillors have made a principled and welcome stand by rejecting the Titnore development.

The standing ovation by the audience must surely be the first for the town's planning committee.

But as The Herald Says (March 18) points out, the developers are likely to appeal, so, may I say this to councillors in the lead-up to the local elections: "Please don't point score off each other.

"Instead, stand together with local voters and groups opposing the development. A united stand now might convince the developers that an appeal is fruitless and save the town a lot of expense and grief."

Finally, an appeal to Peter Bottomley, our MP. Please support our councillors and local residents in this decision.

The public statements made by your colleagues over the Ford development made an important contribution to the housing debate.
