GUESS what, guys? Dog show season officially starts this Sunday – with the hugely popular annual Shoreham Dogs Trust fun dog show and open day.
Local charity dog shows are excellent fun for our community, outdoor activities where everyone can take part – whether it’s actually entering your dog into a fun class, checking out the have-a-go agility, trade stands and refreshments, or just coming along to watch.
Prizes range from rosettes to dog food, with taking part usually the most important factor.
Dog shows are perfect for meeting fellow dog lovers; to share your admiration of another’s pooch, swapping tips on feeding, grooming, and favourite dog walks in West Sussex.
New puppies, as long as they’ve had their vaccinations, worm and flea treatments, will also benefit greatly from attending, as they will enjoy some valuable socialising with both unfamiliar dogs and people, too.
Thinking about getting a dog? Then please don’t be shy, and do talk to as many people as possible.
Most dog owners are more than happy to share their doggy passion and maybe you’ll end up reserving a rescue dog from the centre itself?
Remember, rescue pets aren’t bad pets.
It is not their fault they’ve been abandoned due to their owners’ change in circumstances, which can include moving into temporary accommodation, illness, allergies, even death.
The benefits of all rescue pets are endless.
Not only can you often find puppies and kittens needing homes, but adults are already house-trained, neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, teeth cleaned, even temperament tested – complete bargains, finely tuned to make perfect pets for you and your family.
With so many unwanted, abandoned pets in rescue shelters, please consider adopting a rescue pet and giving them a loving forever home, greatly helping to reduce numbers of unwanted pets in the UK. See you on Sunday!
