Watch out for post

AM I alone in my problem? On June 20, I used the vaccuum facility at Brooklands BP garage/filling station.

I parked with the back end of my car adjacent to their vacuum cleaner, to clean out the boot area of my car.

On returning to drive away from there, I could not see the little tiny yellow post (12-14 inches high) at the exit from this area from my driving position, albeit that I had noted earlier that it was a difficult exit to turn left, but consequently collided with this not very visible post, causing 700 damage to my car.

I have to say that I have an accident-free record for many years.

The post is painted yellow, but as I say, not able to be seen easily from the driving position, and taking a sharp turn left on to the A259.

It is quite obvious to me, judging by the debris from cars at this point (glass, plastic, etc., which was conveniently swept up after my complaint), that further collisions had happened with this post in the past.

Also, on further visits, I see evidence on the post that at least three other people have had a similar experience since my incident.

It's not a very easy exit to get out of when turning left, especially when you can't see the post!

I am warning everyone to be aware when using the car wash/tyre inflation/vacuum facilities there.

Has anyone else collided with this post in a similar way?

I should be interested to hear from you, and what response you got from BP. I can't believe that no-one else has complained about this.

Anyone else with a similar experience at this garage please contact me via e-mail on [email protected].
