This week Steve Coe, president of the Worthing Lions gives details of some of the exciting events about to take place at the 2015 festival.

This is one of the busiest times of the year for the Worthing Lions as its members and friends prepare for the annual summer festival which takes place on Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26.

The full programme can be found on our website or in our brochure, which is available from our shop in George V Avenue.

New this year will be a display of classic cars and scooters at Steyne Gardens on Saturday, July 25.

We have been promised E Type Jaguars, Morgans, Vespas and several other classics so if you love old cars and scooters why not take a moment to visit the display.

Saturday night means fireworks from the end of the pier – and at about 10pm you will see the highlight of the weekend with one of the best displays in the area.

Several thousand people watch the show from Goring to East Worthing.

Our bucket collectors will be out in force after the show and as most the attractions over the weekend are free of charge please give generously when you see them.

They will all be wearing bright yellow tabards with ‘Worthing Lions’ on them.

During the weekend there will also be the usual favourites such as the massive fun fair, commercial and charity stalls on the promenade, and, on the Sunday, American hot rods on Steyne Gardens and a huge bus rally with rides around the area.

So why not come down and enjoy the fun with us?

We are proud to be sponsoring assistance dog charity Canine Partners this year.

We are hoping to raise enough money to fund four people with physical disabilities from the Worthing area through their on–site training course at one of the charity’s training centres.

If you have never witnessed just how these specially trained dogs assist people with every day tasks, then come down to their stall on the promenade, near the Lido, on Saturday, July 25, and watch their incredible demonstrations.

Worthing Lions is an extremely active club and we enjoy life.
