The annual Rehab Parliamentary pancake race will take place on Shrove Tuesday (March 4).

The race will see a team of MPs do battle with members of the House of Lords and the media to raise awareness of the charity Rehab, which provides care and rehabilitation to people living with brain injury, mental health issues and a wide variety of other disabilities.

Mr Loughton said: “The race offers a wonderful opportunity for spectators to laugh at politicians dressed up in pinnies and silly hats, but it has a serious side too in raising awareness of the services that Rehab provides.”

He joked that the MPs had to watch out for ‘skulduggery’ from the Lords and media.

Angela Kerins, chief executive of the Rehab Group, said: “Parliamentarians put their rivalries to one side each year and go for gold in support of Rehab’s services.

“The real winners of this race are the people with brain injuries and people with mental health difficulties, whose services benefit from the funds raised.”
