Paris flights from Shoreham prove a hit

FLIGHTS to Paris from Shoreham have proved popular since they were launched by Brighton City Airways in March, particularly with businesses.

The 19-seat Let 410 commuter aircraft can get you from Shoreham Airport to the outskirts of Paris in just under three hours, making it ideal for a day trip or business lunches.

Director Jonathan Candelon said: “Before we started, we thought there would be about 30 per cent business use and the rest leisure, but in fact it is the other way around, with some big companies using us.

“It is extremely valuable to them because of the time saving, as the business district of Paris is not far from where we land.”

Brighton City Airways was conceived by Jonathan, director of Flying Time Aviation, also based at Shoreham, and Neil Laughton, entrepreneur, pilot and adventurer, famous for leading Bear Grylls to the summit of Mount Everest.

Jonathan said they chose Paris for their first flights because there was no service from Gatwick.

“We have the advantage with the aircraft having only 19 seats, as we don’t need to sell many to make it work,” he added.

Further locations are on the cards for the future, with some already being requested by the business community.
