Parking spaces banned for newflats' dwellers

Occupiers of flats planned for Bognor Regis will be banned from using the parking spaces beneath their proposed homes.

Developer Lordsdale Estates wants to put the ten flats on the car park on Lennox Street.

The company would provide 15 parking spaces underneath its intended three-storey scheme.

But this area would be reserved for the residents of the existing flats of Waterloo Court on Norfolk Street and Cavendish House on Lennox Street.

Lordsdale has sent an outline planning application to Arun District Council to see if councillors agree with the principle of the development on the 0.04 hectare site.

The company's planning agent, Peter King, has stated: 'An unusual feature of this proposal is that the car park will not be used by those who occupy the site but by the occupiers of nearby flats.'

The arrangement is to ensure the legal right of the residents of six flats in Waterloo Court and nine in Cavendish House to a parking space is maintained.

The proposed flats have been designed as self-contained starter homes on the first and second floor of the development with the car park on the ground floor.

The accommodation will be aimed at first-time buyers, including single people, with an internal floor area of 42sq m.
