Pavement works start in Durrington

PAVEMENT improvement schemes in Offington Drive and Eton Road, Worthing,starts today (Monday, January 4).

Costing a total of 144,000, the West Sussex County Council schemes will involve removing the existing concrete slabs and replacing them with an asphalt surface.

The Offington Drive scheme will be carried out between the junctions with Poulter's Lane and Offington Avenue.

Maintenance work will also take place in the area.

This scheme is scheduled to take up to 12 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The Eton Road scheme is scheduled to take up to five weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Both projects will be carried out Monday to Friday, from 7.30am to 5pm.

Derek Whittington, county council cabinet member for strategic planning and transport, said: "These schemes update the pavements with a much smoother surface."

On-street parking may be suspended during both schemes to help with the traffic flow.
