Arundel Brownies postpone centenary party

Brown Owl Rachel Stanford said rather than delaying the celebrations, it just meant extending them.

She said: “Being apart for our special day wasn’t going to make us sad. With the help of the parents, guardians and leaders, we put together a short film of why we love 1st Arundel Brownies.”

The unit was formed on March 31, 1920, under the guidance of Lord and Lady Baden Powell.

Rachel has shared the video on Facebook and hopes it will be seen by former Brownies and others living in the area.

She added: “We just want to be happy on our special day.”

The unit is looking to invite previous and current Brownies to celebrate in late 2020 or maybe 2021. Email Rachel at [email protected] for more information.

In addition, please write to your MP urging the Government to provide some additional financial support for local newspapers and their websites like this one and ensuring that supermarkets continue to stock them. I cannot stress enough how important such an intervention would be.
