Every October, RNLI supporters around the UK and Ireland come together to support the charity’s Fish Supper campaign, hosting dinner parties and bigger events to raise funds to keep the lifeboats launching and afloat.

Restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic left this year’s event in danger of being scaled down but when the chips were down, determined fundraisers came up with a creative way to put Fish Supper firmly back on the table.

Lifeboat crews and lifeguards from around the south east, including from Littlehampton RNLI Lifeboat Station, will be hosting a seaside-themed quiz on Zoom at 7pm on Friday, October 23.

Lifesavers from the charity invite people to order in, or cook, a delicious supper of fish and chips, or a plant-based equivalent, and test their knowledge of all things maritime. There is a suggested minimum donation of £2 to take part and every pound donated will help save lives at sea and on the Thames.

The online hosts for the evening will be lifeboat crew members from Littlehampton, Newhaven, Whitstable, Chiswick and Tower lifeboat stations and they will be introducing each section, along with lifeguards from the south east’s beaches. As well as testing your coastal knowledge, they will be sharing information about sea safety and their work this summer.
