Norman Humble - described as ‘a true gentleman’ - died shortly after lockdown soon after celebrating his 100th birthday at the Anchorage care home, Pulborough.

His funeral was held at Worthing Crematorium on July 9 and was attended by his daughter Barbara, personal friends and many members of Chanctonbury Probus Club.

He had served as club treasurer for 10 years.

A club spokesman said: “He was always immaculately dressed, staunchly honest and had a wicked sense of humour.

“He will be missed by so many people.”
