Chichester residents react to 'shocking' school meal hamper

Chichester residents shared their reaction after a Sussex mum shared her upset at the amount of food supplied as part of the free school meals scheme.

Becky Fallon said: "I saw this post and thought it was a school week's supply of food then realised it said ten days. That's shocking!

"I am due to pick up one of these school meal replacement boxes today, now wondering what it may contain. I am grateful for any help given no matter how big or small don't get me wrong.

"However, out of curiosity, what happens if your child doesn't eat sandwiches, cheese or pasta for that matter or has dietary requirements?

"Maybe that's why the vouchers may have proved better for so many families."

Vicky Louise said: "You could shop in Waitrose and get more for £30. Let alone the cheaper supermarkets."

Jess Rollins said: "There's not 30 pounds worth in the box to start with and I would prefer to go shopping at Tesco or Lidl with a £30 voucher that's for sure, I'd get a lot more things that would actually make up ten lunches."

Kirsty O'Donnell said; "There hampers aren't also catering for children with allergies who are usually catered for. Out of the hamper we had last week my son was only allowed to eat the bread."
