‘Crazy’ times at Rustington Hall

Residents at Rustington Hall are being kept well entertained during lockdown, including a Mad Hatter’s tea party and chats over old times, with the aid of the memorabilia collection. Littlehampton vocal soloist Alexis performed from the veranda and staff dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland.

Mrs Sammy Hydes, customer relations manager, said: “It’s crazy times for most of us and Rustington Hall Nursing and Care Home is no exception. Elderly residents and staff joined together to create a super fun day, themed on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter’s tea party. Highlights of the day included a luxury tea and refreshments, with cakes and delights prepared by the in house catering team.”

The tea party was one of many regular themed party events, including VE Day, sweets and treats, and international cuisine. Tom Ridley, chairman of the board, commended the 130-strong staff team, led by Sally Morris, chief executive, and Rebecca Lovelock, clinical lead, for making these activities possible throughout the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

The home is continually adding to its memorabilia collection and would be grateful for an old typewriter and an old iron if anyone has one they can donate. Visit www.rustingtonhall.co.uk for more information.
