They have encouraged the three-year-old male’s playful side and find he is getting more and more cheeky by the day.

Adel Burnett, rehoming centre manager, said: “Bagel finds lots of joy in playing with his toys. Watching him bound around, throwing and catching a soft teddy is bound to melt your heart.

“His other big love in life is spending time with his doggy-pals. Bagel will need to live with another dog in his new home as they help to bring out his confidence.”

Bagel needs somewhere quiet and peaceful, without many visitors.

The youngest member of the family should be aged over 16 and Bagel cannot live with any cats or other small furry pets.

A garden is essential and he will need to be walked in spacious areas, away from traffic.

Adel added: “Ultimately, Bagel is seeking understanding owners who are prepared to take the time to get to know him and build up a trusting friendship.”

The rehoming centre in Brighton Road, Shoreham, is still closed to walk-ins but recent changes in the government guidance means the team can now book appointments for dogs like Bagel that cannot be rehomed using the Handover at Home process.
